Age Spots & Freckles

Laser therapy is considered one of the most effective treatment options for addressing pigmentation concerns such as age spots, sunspots, and uneven skin tone. Freckles, although often a hereditary feature influenced by genetics, can also be effectively treated with the appropriate laser technology.

When determining the most suitable approach, several factors are taken into account—including skin type, ethnic background, and the desired outcome. Tailoring the treatment in this way ensures both safety and optimal results for every individual.

Our Southbank clinic incorporates several advanced skin treatments, tailored to your goals.

Treatment Options

  • Dye VL (Intense Pulsed Light): Ideal for lighter skin types, this IPL-based technology targets superficial pigmentation and sun damage with precision.
  • Q-Switch ClearLift Laser: Suitable for all skin types, including darker and more melanin-rich skin. This laser is especially effective and safe for Asian and ethnic skin, offering deep pigmentation correction with minimal risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The Process

Step 1: Initial Consult

Upon arrival at our Southbank clinic, you will be asked to complete a form with your personal and medical information to ensure your treatment is both safe and effective. A detailed consultation will then take place, during which we’ll discuss your concerns, goals, and expectations to develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs.

We will also review any potential risks or complications associated with the procedure. If you decide to proceed, treatment can often be performed during the same appointment. However, if you prefer more time to consider your options, you’re welcome to rebook at a later date.

Step 2: Treatment

Typically, the procedure takes around 15–30 minutes. However, the duration may vary depending on the number of areas being treated and the specific procedures involved.

Common side effects include:

  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Tenderness

Step 3: Aftercare

Immediately after treatment:

  • Avoid lying down for at least 4 hours
  • Do not rub or massage the treated area

For the next 48 hours:

  • Refrain from strenuous exercise; walking is allowed
  • Avoid excessive heat and sun exposure

For 1 week:

  • Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher daily
  • Avoid facial massages

For 2 weeks:

  • Avoid laser treatments
  • Refrain from dental procedures if the lower half of the face was treated
  • Do not get any tattoos
